Norwich Union becomes Aviva on 1 June 2009

Norwich Union the fifth largest provider of insurance, savings and investments in the world will be changing their name to Aviva after more than 200 years.

 

The Aviva brand may not be as well known as Norwich Union in the UK, however Aviva has expanded considerably in Europe, the USA and Asia over the last few years. As well as Norwich Union, Commercial Union Poland and the Ireland based Hibernian will also be rebranded as Aviva from the 1^st June 2009.

 

Norwich Union has already started a marketing campaign with a notable TV advert containing celebrities who have changed their names to benefit their career. The celebrities include:

 

Bruce Willis whose original name is Walter Willis

Ringo Star whose original name is Richard Starkey

Alice Cooper whose original name is Vincent Damon Furnier

Elle Macpherson whose original name is Eleanor Gow
